NFM Group was founded in 1996 by four former members of the Norwegian Home Guard, initially motivated to create more functional and comfortable combat vests.

Today, NFM is a leading European supplier of personal protection for military and law enforcement, offering body armor (SKJOLD™), helmet systems (HJELM™), combat clothing (GARM™), load-bearing systems (THOR™), duty belts (GENTO), and equipment camouflage (EC-PAINT™).

Design and manufacturing take place across facilities in Norway, Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, and the USA. Headquarters and ballistics R&D are based in Ski near Oslo.
