Petzl was founded in 1975 and is headquartered in Crolles, in the French Alps. Originating from caving activities, the family company has grown into a leading manufacturer of vertical equipment and headlamps.

The range includes harnesses, helmets, carabiners, ascenders and belay devices, as well as powerful headlamps for outdoor use, rescue, industry and tactical applications. Most research, development, and production take place in France.
