Spyderco

Spyderco Knives, Inc. was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser and settled in Golden, Colorado in 1978, initially producing knife sharpeners like the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker®, followed by the first Spyderco folding knife.

In 1981, Spyderco released the C01 Worker—the first folding knife featuring a round hole for one-handed opening and a pocket clip—elements now standard in their designs. Serrated edges (SpyderEdge) and clipping mechanisms were also among early innovations.

Headquartered still in Golden, Colorado, Spyderco manufactures knives in the USA and abroad, with facilities in Taiwan, Japan, Italy, and China. Out of more than 300 mainline products, around 76 are currently made in the USA.
