Development:
The AK platform is a gas-operated firearm that uses a piston system for the cycling mechanism. The AK is particularly characterized by its legendary reliability, which is due in part to its simple design, the long stroke piston system and the deliberately increased tolerances in manufacturing, making it one of the most famous and popular weapons in the world.
The Nedi AK-47S is a civilian version of the Type 56-1, which is a Chinese version of the Russian AKMS, the modern variant of the original AK-47S, which was developed in the 1950s by Mikhail Kalashnikov. As with the Russian AKMS, the receiver is made of stamped sheet steel, which makes this variant somewhat lighter and cheaper to manufacture than its predecessor, the AK-47 Type 1-3 with a milled receiver, but without losing its legendary reliability. In contrast to the standard AKM, which is equipped with a fixed wooden stock, the Nedi AK-47S / Type 56-1 or the original AKMS has an underfolder folding stock, which makes the weapon much more compact for transport. The underfolder is also just a real AK-classic.
Difference AKMS / AK-47S / Type 56-1:
The Nedi AK-47S / Type 56-1 is visually almost identical to the Russian AKMS, but the trained eye can quickly identify this model by the following visual features: In contrast to the Russian AKMS, the gas tube of the Nedi has been equipped with ventilation holes, the front sight cover is completely closed and the rivets in the receiver are arranged slightly differently. The beveled flash hider has been replaced with a thread protector and the magazine is missing the edge on the back. The standard wooden pistol grip also has a metal piece, which makes the grip look very similar to that of the Russian AK-47 Type 2 & 3, and the sling attachment point has been moved from the handguard retainer bracket to the gas block. The position of the sling attachment point must be considered, as for this reason not all aftermarket handguards and rail systems are compatible with the Nedi without slight adjustments.
Compatibility:
The Nedi AK-47S is compatible with most aftermarket accessories for the AK platform and can therefore be easily equipped with modern accessories such as optics, flashlights, handguards and everything the shooter's heart desires. However, due to the manufacturing tolerances between the various AK and accessory manufacturers, it may sometimes be necessary to use a file to attach an aftermarket accessory to the Nedi AK-47S. But what would an AK build be without a little sweat and blood ;)
